Laurie started working for HSG in 2003 as a preschool and beginning girls coach. She has been the owner of High Sierra Gymnastics since 2005. Laurie enjoys watching kids grow into athletes that mature and learn life lessons through gymnastics. Her goal for HSG is to have a gymnastics school that feels like family. Coaches that love gymnastics and love to work with kids. Laurie has helped run several large gymnastics competitions including Women's and Men's Nevada State Championships, Men's Region 1 Gymnastics Championships and Men's National Gymnastics Championships. She has helped run the Cal Benefit Cup for Men and Women at Cal Berkeley and their NCAA competitions. Laurie enjoys taking pictures of the gymnasts during their competitions to share with the parents.  

Debbie Baldwin has been involved with High Sierra Gymnastics for 30 years. She began her career when her children enrolled in recreational classes in the 1980’s. As her children became more involved in the sport, so did Debbie. She and her husband, Roger, bought the gym in 1995. They sold it in 2005 to the current owner.  Debbie now acts as the Gym Manager at High Sierra Gymnastics.

Debbie has also been involved in gymnastics on a wider scale along with her husband. She has been the director of the Region 1 Select Team Camp for 10 years and has acted as Treasurer of Region 1. She traveled to Japan with the Select Team Camp in 2007 with the Region 1 delegation. She was awarded the Region 1 Hiroshi Fujimoto Award in 2014 by her peers in Region 1.

Debbie has been the Co-Director for a number of large events including 2011 and 2013 JO Nationals in Long Beach as well as the 1995, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2017 Regional Championships in various cities.  

Kellee started at High Sierra Gymnastics in October, 2012. She has become a very important part of the HSG family. Kellee runs our front office and works hard with Debbie in running the everyday aspect of the gym. Kellee is a great addition to the HSG family. Every business needs a Kellee; but she is our!

Roger Baldwin has coached at High Sierra Gymnastics for over 30 years. He was the owner of High Sierra Gymnastics for 10 years and has coached everyone from preschool to National Team members. He currently coaches the boy’s team.

In addition to his involvement at HSG, Roger was the Men’s Nevada State Chairman for 13 years and then became the Men’s Region 1 Chairman for 10 years. As Region 1 Chairman, he coordinated the Select Team Camp and the Region 1 Elite Team for USA Gymnastics. He headed a delegation of 20 male gymnasts to Japan in 2007 which consisted of Olympians Jake Dalton, Sam Mikulak and Alex Naddour. Roger was awarded the prestigious Frank Cumisky award by USA Gymnastics in 2009 for his dedication to the sport of gymnastics.

Roger has been the Co-Director for a number of large events including 2011 and 2013 JO Nationals in Long Beach as well as the 1995, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2017 Regional Championships in various cities.  
Coach Andrew started at High Sierra Gymnastics as a gymnast at the age of 5. He is still here! Andrew was a member of the competitive team until he graduated from High School. He started coaching recreational boys classes in April, 2006. After high school he started coaching the HSG boys team. In 2016 he took the jump and started coaching the competitive girls and is the co-head coach for the girls competitive team along with Coach Emily. Andrew is also our Recreational Girls Program Director. The changes in the girls program is exciting. We are over the moon to have a fantastic coach with our wonderful girls.
Coach Emily is another former gymnast for High Sierra Gymnastics. Emily started coaching for us in June, 2008. Over the past years she had become one of the best coaches. Her commitment to excellence and the girls she coaches is evident in the girls on the competitive program. In 2016 she became the Girls Competitive Team Coordinator and co-head coach for the girls team along with Coach Andrew. Their goals are to develop the whole child with life lessons, coach with passion, not yelling and that winning at all costs is not the goal. Expect to see great things with our competitive girls team in the future.   

Tim Klempnauer started gymnastics in High School taking 1st place on PH his senior year. In Jr. College (Pasadena) he placed 4th on PH at the National Championships. He received a full scholarship to Cal State Fullerton and placed 2nd on PH at the Pac 10 Championships in 1984.

 

He has been coaching gymnastics since 1981 and was the owner of US Gymnastics Training Center in So Cal for 16 years before selling to (and working for) Eduard Azarian in 2005. In 2015 he moved up to Reno as the Boys Head Team Coach for High Sierra Gymnastics.

 

He has received many awards including the “Frank Cumiskey Award” in 2003. This is the highest award in the USA Men’s Junior Olympic Program given to one person each year for their contribution to Men’s Gymnastics. He was voted “Coach of the Year” for Southern California 4 times (1993, 2009, 2010, & 2012). His team has won the “Iron Man Award(for the best overall program in Southern California) 5 times (1986, 1993, 2010, 2011, & 2012).

 

He has helped coach many gymnasts onto Jr National Teams as well as All Around and Event National Champions:

  • 10 USA P&G National Championship qualifiers
  • 2 USA P&G National Event CHAMPIONS (PH)
  • 10 Jr. Olympic National TEAM MEMBERS
  • 10 Jr Olympic National Event CHAMPIONS
  • 1 Jr. Olympic National ALL AROUND CHAMPION
  • 15 National Development Team Members (Future Stars)

 

He has held many positions in the USA Men’s Gymnastics Community. He was a member of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors from 2003-2008 and then the Advisory Committee to the USAG Board of Directors from 2008-2015. He was the Region 1 Chairman and member of the Jr. Olympic Program Committee from 1998-2000. He was the State Chairman of So Cal from 1989-1993 & 1995-1998. He is currently the Nevada State Chairman (since 2015). He was President of the USA Men’s Gymnastics Association from 2003-2015.

 

He has also been on many committees throughout his 35+ years of coaching. He is currently on the USA Age Group Competition Committee (AGCC) 2013-2016 & 2017-2020. He is a member of the USA Compulsory Writing Committee (PH) for this this quad (2017-2020) as well as the previous quad 2013-2016. He has also been a member of the Jr. Olympic National Championships Format Committee (on and off) over the last 25 years.

 

He has hosted and helped out at many gymnastics events and is one of the best Event Directors in the men’s community. He was on the USA Gymnastics Event Staff from 2003-2008 helping out at the 2003 World Gymnastics Championships (in Anaheim) as the Training Gym Manager. He has been the co-Meet Director for the USA Men’s Jr. Olympic National Championships 5 times: 1991 (Fullerton), 2002, 2004 (San Diego), 2011, & 2014 (Long Beach)!  He has been the Meet Director (and co-Meet Director) for the Region 1 Championships 9 times: 2015 (Ontario), 2017, 2013, 2012, 2008 (Reno), 2010 (San Diego), 2005 (Del Mar), 1989 (Laguna Niguel).

 

He has also been a Nationally rated Judge since 1986 (over 30 years). He earned his FIG Judges rating from 1997-2000 during which he judged the USA Senior Championships (currently P&G’s) in 1997 & 1998 (both on PH). He also judged at the USA vs. Germany International Junior Duel meet in 1997.

 

He has been a presenter at the USA Gymnastics Congress (2016 on PH) as well as at many of the Men’s New JO Program Workshops in 2012 and again in 2016. He has also presented at the USA Men’s National Coaches Workshop in Colorado Springs. 
One more of High Sierra Gymnastics former competitive team members. Cassidy started coaching for us in December, 2012. She loved coaching the preschool classes but in 2016 she made a move to coaching the competitive team too. Having her coach both recreational and competitive team allows everyone to benefit from her excellant coaching and energy.
Coach Connie is a recreational coach for HSG. Coach Connie started with us in April, 2014. Her enthusiasm is contagious. Go HSG!
We have so many former gymnasts from HSG that coach for us and Coach Brooke is another. Coach Brooke started coaching for us in April, 2014. Along with Coach Cassidy she started coaching the competitive team in 2016. Her attention to detail and making sure the kids are having fun shows in all her classes and in team practice. We love it when our former gymnasts come back to coach for us! 
Coach RaeLena started in January, 2015 our morning preschool classes and quickly moved to coaching beginning girls classes. She works with our competitive team girls on dance in the off season. Being a mommy of two young girls, gives her a different view on coaching which is appreciated and helpful. 
Coach Nathan is one of our own. He started on the competitive team and when he retired from competing he jumped right into coaching. Coach Nathan started with us in June, 2015. He coaches recreational girls and boys. He is a awesome staff member and coach.   
We can never say enough about Coach Jessica and the fantastic coach she is. She started coaching in September, 2015. Coach Jessica works in the office and coaches recreational classes; boys, girls and preschool classes.
We are very lucky that Coach Sydney's busy schedule allows her to work for us. Coach Sydney started in November, 2015. Her classes are so devoted to her and they have a lot of fun learning gymnastics.

Having a bad day? Find Coach Sophia! Her contagious smile and abundance of energy will lift your spirit and your child's too. Coach Sophia retired from HSG's competitive gymnastics team in the fall of 2016 but she had already been working for us since January, 2016. Coach Sophia is one more reason High Sierra Gymnastics is the best place to bring your kids. 
Coach Kylie has been with High Sierra Gymnastics In April, 2016. She coaches Preschool and Beginning Girls Classes
 Coach Taylor was on our competitive team and worked for High Sierra Gymnastics from April, 2009 - December, 2011. She left to start a family. Coach Taylor returned to HSG in June, 2016. Coach Taylor is our Preschool Program Director and is a competitive team coach. We are happy to have Coach Taylor and the preschool program will benefit from her too.
Coach David comes to us from San Diego, CA. He started HSG in June, 2016 as our boys team coach. Coach David is our Boy's  Recreational Director and our Community Outreach Director. Coach David coached at the Mission Valley YMCA where he was also a competitive gymnast. He started coaching in July, 2010. Coach David is very enthusiastic and has a lot of energy. You're unable to miss his coaching for his boisterous voice and encouraging speech. We are delighted he has chosen to move to Reno and to work for HSG.  
Coach Brielle started coaching for High Sierra Gymnastics in July, 2016. Coach Brielle coaches beginning girls classes for us. 
Coach Penny started coaching for High Sierra Gymnastics in August, 2016. She coaches preschool and beginning girls classes. 
Coach Emily started coaching for High Sierra Gymnastics in October, 2016. She coaches preschool and beginning girls classes.
